The prestigious travel publisher and online platform Lonely Planet has invited its multi-million audience to join the Ljubljana Feminist Tour, which is regularly organised by the Urbana Vrana / Ptich team in both Slovenian and English.
“If you’re travelling to Slovenia, you might be interested in a new feminist tour taking place in the country’s capital, Ljubljana,” they wrote, adding that the tour focuses on Ljubljana’s women artists and politicians, urban architecture, gender, and the city’s feminist and LGBTQ+ scene in both the socialist and capitalist periods. They also pointed out, quite tellingly, that “only two percent of Ljubljana’s monuments are dedicated to women.”
The publication of an article about our feminist tour on the website of the tourism giant Lonely Planet, along with promotional posts on their social media channels, has truly delighted us—especially as the Ljubljana Feminist Tour is celebrating its first anniversary these days. It is therefore a beautiful birthday gift and a strong confirmation that we are on the right path.
We are immensely proud to have created a cultural and tourism experience that is both educational and entertaining, one that excites not only local visitors and media but also the world’s biggest players. Following prominent coverage in Slovenian and Croatian media about the innovative “women’s tour” in Ljubljana—quite possibly the only regular feminist tour on the planet—we are now also being recommended by Lonely Planet!
On this occasion, we would like to thank everyone who has supported the feminist tour in the past, joined our other tours, and stood by us in one way or another.
